Coaches
Mary
- I was a soccer mom for years when my son was little. We then moved to a small community in Northern BC and there was no soccer team so we developed a small soccer league so Trevor could continue to play. He later became a coach and the league is still thriving. I moved to Vancouver in September 2007 to continue graduate courses at UBC in Special Education. I also work for the Infant Development Program of BC. I have been working with children with additional needs and their families for many years. I love playing soccer, being outside, having fun and getting to know each of the kids and their families. I look forward to Saturdays so w can play soccer!
Mike
- I live in the Coquitlam area and am a lawyer. I have been involved in soccer for the last 25 years as a player and now as a coach. I played defence for the Coquitlam Hurricanes. I am a sports fan, particularly the Canucks and San Francisco 49ers, I enjoy jogging, rollerblading, kyacking, and swimming. My favorite tv shows are the Simpsons and CSI. Its an honor to be the coach of such a great team with talented players, and I look forward to each weeks game.
Nish
- Hi. I’m Nish and I like to have fun. I work in an elementary school with children who have special needs. I also coach the school sports so this was a perfect combination of both. More importantly I LOVE soccer; both playing and coaching. I’m a goalie on my team. Most importantly I love to have fun.
Peter
- Hi, I’m Peter. I was born in Trinidad & Tobago, which is why I have a funny accent, and I’ve lived in Canada since 1980. When I’m not coaching, I’m inspecting steel structures, pipes, and aircrafts. I have two sons: Michael, 20, and Matthew, 17 (a Soccer Dog). I enjoy taking Matthew to his drum lessons every week and also discussing technology with my older son, Michael. My wife Elizabeth recently acquired two Australian Sheperds (dogs) and we hope to enter them in agility and show competitions when they are older. I really enjoyed being one of the coaches, and I look forward to coaching again in the fall. The joy of being with a team that is enthusiastic and actually wants to play, is one of the best rewards of being a coach for the Blazin’ Soccer Dogs.
Sarah
- I grew up on the North Shore playing soccer since I was 4 years old. After highschool I went to UBC and earned a BHK in Health and Fitness, while playing for the UBC Thunderbirds. Right now I’m working for Twist Conditioning as a Sport Conditioning Coach and I also coach a U-15 girls Gold team for VGSC. Plus I still play centreback for my new womens team. I am really excited about coaching for the Blazin’ Soccer Dogs as I hope to help you gain the same love of soccer that I have.
Beth
- Hi, I am Beth. I was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, and moved to beautiful B.C. in 2006. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor, and a Master’s of Science degree in Phyisotherapy from Queens University. I am currently working as a physiotherapist with the Vancouver Regional Pediatric Team, and work on-call at VGH for patients with respiratory conditions and lung transplants. I started playing soccer when I was 5, and haven’t stopped. I have coached several youth teams, was a soccer instructor at a summer camp in Ontario, and have my National Coaching Certification Level 2. I have lots of experience working with children and adults with special needs, including working as the recreational programmer at a camp for children and adults with special needs in Alberta. I strongly believe that ALL children deserve the opportunity to participate in recreational sports, and I am very proud and excited to be a part of the Blazing Soccer Dogs!!
